The freedom of choice pilot in oral health care ends in Pirkanmaa in September. Customers participating in the pilot can use the services of the provider of their choice, such as have a dental check-up, until 15 September 2019. After that, they will automatically be transferred back to the oral health care services of their town of residence. Transferring does not require any action from customers.

Any unfinished treatments remaining at the end of the pilot can be carried out by the service provider until the end of 2019.

Nearly 5,000 people from Nokia, Orivesi, Pirkkala, Tampere, Valkeakoski and Vesilahti are participating in the pilot. They will be informed about the ending of the pilot via text message on Wednesday 5th of June. Customers who have not given their phone number will receive a letter in the mail.

The pilot is part of the service voucher experiment funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. Funding for the project ends in autumn 2019. The pilot has provided valuable information which can be used to develop social and health services in the future.
