Mari Taverne appointed as Head of Talent Attraction and Migration
From the beginning of next year, the City of Tampere Employment Services unit will have a new set of services marketed as Talent Attraction and Retention. The service is dedicated to promoting the internationalisation of the City of Tampere.
Mari Taverne has been appointed as the service manager of the new service. She will start in her new position on 1 December 2018. Mrs Taverne moves to the City of Tampere Employment Services from Business Tampere where she has been acting as a senior business advisor. She is entering in this new position with great interest and enthusiasm:
– Already for nearly ten years, I have gained experience in the field of work-based immigration and international talent attraction and retention, worked with different EU and nationally funded projects and promoted the emergence and development of international networks as part of the business ecosystem of the Tampere region at Business Tampere. This new position is challenging but definitely interesting. I am privileged to be involved in creating a new model, not only for the Tampere region but also for Finland.
Mrs Taverne believes that the example the City of Tampere is setting will have a positive impact on the development of other growing urban regions:
– In the future, the role of growing urban regions will become significant in attracting international workforce and to strengthen vitality. An international Tampere Central Region is the competitive edge of the future. It enables the development of a sustainable innovation environment and a versatile economic structure. This will require multidimensional cooperation for which Tampere is well equipped.
