Tampere outdoor swimming pool opens on 1 August
The long wait is over and the Tampere outdoor swimming pool was opened on Wednesday, 1 August. On the morning of the opening day, Deputy Mayor Anna-Kaisa Heinämäki cut the ribbon and announced the pool as officially open to the public.
The Tampere outdoor swimming pool is one of Finland’s largest. The outdoor pool area is comprised of four pools in total: a children’s pool, wading pool, diving pool and 50-metre pool. Together, the pools hold a total of 3,840 cubic metres of water. The pool area also has diving platforms, which are 3, 5, 7 and 10 metres high.
In addition to the pool section, there is a cafeteria on the premises, which doubles as the ticket office. The outdoor facilities have their own changing rooms, showers and a fenced-off lawn area.
Three types of tickets are now available for the Tampere Swimming Centre. A visitor can buy a ticket for either the indoor or outdoor swimming pool. There is also a third option, the ticket package, which gives the visitor access to both the indoor and outdoor swimming pools. All tickets are available at the swimming centre’s ticket office. Tickets for the outdoor pool can be purchased from the outdoor pool cafeteria during its opening hours.
The outdoor pool has some minor effects on the Tampere Swimming Centre ticket prices. The quiet time discount on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. is not in effect while the outdoor pool is open. The discount is in effect as usual in other Tampere swimming pools (Pyynikki, Tesoma and Hervanta).
The outdoor pool is open this summer until 30 September.
