Changes in health centre services in Tampere
The health centre service provider for the regions of the city centre and Hervanta of the City of Tampere will change as of 1 August 2018. The new service provider will be Mehiläinen Terveyspalvelut Oy. The change will be visible to customers, for instance, in a change of location: as of August, the new location for the city centre is the Finlayson area and the Duo shopping centre for Hervanta. In spring, the city put the services out to tender. The services were previously provided by Pihlajalinna.
The change of the service provider will have an impact on 15,200 Tampere residents living in the city centre, and on 10,000 in the districts of Hervanta and Vuores. Previously, the health centre for these customers was either Omapihlaja Kehräsaari or Omapihlaja Hervanta on the basis of their home address. As of 1 August, these customers will automatically become customers of Mehiläinen.
Furthermore, the change will have an impact on those 4,000 customers who previously have chosen by themselves Omapihlaja Kehräsaari or Omapihlaja Hervanta as their health service provider. At the beginning of August, they will be returned as customers of the city health centre based on their address. Afterwards, they have the possibility to change the health centre if the wish to do so.
The change of the service provider also concerns some people living in the districts of Kalkunvuori, Epilä and Pohtola, who have been customers of Omapihlaja Kehräsaari. As of 1 August, the residents of Kalkunvuori will be transferred as customers of Mehiläinen at the Tesoma health centre, which began operations in April 2018. Residents living in Epilä will be transferred as customers of the Tipotie health centre and those living in Pohtola as customers of the Lielahti health centre.
Mehiläinen will open new health centres for the services. The health centre serving customers living in the city centre will be opened in the Finlayson area in connection with current Mehiläinen facilities on the first floor. The health centre serving residents of Hervanta and Vuores will be opened on the first floor of the Duo shopping centre. Health centres will operate in accordance with the Mehiläinen Oma Lääkärisi concept.
As of 1 August, customers will be able to make an appointment with the new service provider as the phone service lines of new health centres are opened. Further information on contact information, opening hours and other instructions will be provided in July before opening on the website of the City of Tampere, tampere.fi, and at tampere.omalaakarisi.fi.
Omapihlaja Hervanta and Omapihlaja Kehräsaari will be closed for the summer as of 11 July. When these centres are closed, patients will be directed for treatment at open health centres. The health centres in Hatanpää, Hervanta, Linnainmaa, Tammelakeskus, Tipotie and Tesoma will be open throughout the summer. You can make an appointment by calling the health services information and advice line on +358 3 10023, which is open every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The health centres will only treat patients in need of urgent care during this time.
