The application period for morning and afternoon activities for school children and for Eppu club activities has begun

Published 12.4.2018 9.22

The application period for morning and afternoon activities and for Eppu club activities for the next school year 2018–2019 in Tampere has begun. The application period is 9–22 April 2018. Families will be notified if their child has been granted a place by 13 June 2018.

Morning and afternoon activities include the Eppu club activities at schools together with preschool education-aged children provided by the city, and the morning and afternoon activities provided by private operators.

Pupils in the first and second grades in basic education have the possibility to apply for the morning and afternoon activities if both parents are working or studying.

A place can also be granted due to other special reasons. Other special reasons are compelling needs of the family or the child, and decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. In order to refer to a special reason, the guardian must include in the application an expert analysis or assessment of the child’s need. The criteria do not apply to children covered by special support services.

Applications should be submitted electronically wherever possible. The application brochure and electronic application are available on the City of Tampere’s morning and afternoon activities website. More information on the activities is available via e-mail from apip.palveluohjaus(at)tampere.fi

Families may choose the number of hours they need from among three options

Afternoon activities are available after school from midday until 5 p.m. Some groups also offer morning activities from 8 to 10 a.m., depending on demand. Families may select their requirement for the services from among three options.

The service fees are determined according to the option chosen. In groups offering morning activities, the hours can be divided between the morning and the afternoon in such a way that the total number of hours chosen by the family does not exceed the limit.

If the family has chosen a service requirement of 1–3 hours, the fee is €70 per month (the fee for a sibling €60 per month). If the family has chosen a service requirement of 3–4.5 hours a day, the fee is €120 per month (the fee for a sibling €110 per month). If the family has chosen a service requirement of 4.5–6 hours a day, the fee is €140 per month (the fee for a sibling €120 per month).

Vellamo daycare centre provides child care services for single parents who work in shifts and have children attending first or second grade in school. The daycare centres Näsipuisto, Pulmunen and Tesoma provide child care services in the evenings and on weekends from Monday to Sunday. Ankkari daycare centre provides child care services in the evenings from Monday to Saturday (from 6 August 2018 onwards possibly also on Saturdays). Kukkapelto daycare centre provides child care services in the evenings from Monday to Friday. The criteria for the child care services in the evenings and on weekends is the same as for the child care services for shift workers.

Other children may be granted a place at these daycare centres on pupil welfare-related grounds. Applications for child care services in the evenings, on weekends and for shift workers are submitted directly to the daycare centre providing the service. The fee for child care services for shift workers with schoolchildren is €120 per month. The daycare centre does not organise transportation to the daycare centre.
