Changes to services for unemployed job-seekers in Pirkanmaa as of 1 August
A regional pilot project for labour force and business services begins in Pirkanmaa on 1 August 2017. The municipalities will become responsible for services for the unemployed in Tampere, Lempäälä, Nokia, Orivesi, Pirkkala, Punkalaidun, Sastamala, Vesilahti and Ylöjärvi. The change will affect about 22,000 unemployed job-seekers. From the start of August, services to unemployed job-seekers who are eligible for the labour market subsidy or basic unemployment allowance will be provided by the municipality instead of by the Employment and Economic Development Office.
Residents affected by the change will receive more information from their municipalities at the start of August. The customers moving to a different service provider will also be contacted by their municipality of residence by the end of September. More information is available on the websites of the municipalities.
In the future, the municipalities will provide their residents with services that help them to find employment, along with a personal coach or employee who is responsible for their case. The employee will examine the customer’s situation and support them in job-seeking.
The change will have no effect on unemployment benefits. To ensure uninterrupted payment of unemployment benefits, if an unemployed job-seeker has agreed on meetings, services or tasks related to job-seeking with the Employment and Economic Development Office, these obligations must be met within the deadline.
