Check the summer opening hours of the City of Tampere’s services and event tips from the Summer Memo
When are the health centres open during the summer? How do the buses operate? Are the indoor swimming pools open? What should we do? The summer season brings changes to the opening hours of the city’s services. The Summer Memo is a compilation of the opening hours of services and tips on what to do in Tampere during the summer.
The opening hours of city services will be shortened during the summer. Tampere Regional Transport’s buses will also operate with summer schedules and routes. Some health centres will be closed from 3 July to 8 August. Also libraries will adopt summer opening hours. The main floor of the main library Metso will open on 10 July.
The summer is packed with activities and events. The highlight of the summer is the opening of the new Moomin Museum in the Tampere Hall on 17 June with its amazing opening celebration. Hundreds of park concerts will be played around the city throughout the summer, Haihara Art Centre and the Amuri Museum of Workers’ Housing will offer several events and plenty to see, and festivals big and small will fill Tampere.
New exhibitions will open at museums: Tampere Art Museum will display the work of the Young Artist of the Year 2017 Tiina Pyykkinen, Sara Hildén Art Museum the work of Kimmo Kaivanto and Museum Milavida the Fantastica! exhibition presenting Valentino’s haute couture. Museum Centre Vapriikki attracts visitors with the Forbidden City exhibition, and also Birckala 1017, presenting a Viking-age village in Häme. The museums and exhibitions in Vapriikki have plenty to experience for days.
What if you tried the new Visit Tampere city bicycle? Or explored the different beaches in Tampere? Did you know there are more than 30 of them? If the natural waters are cold, you can splash around in the Tampere Swimming Centre in the summer, too, with the exception of the period 5 July–6 August. Children’s Traffic Park has also opened for summer.
