The application period for day care available in the autumn begins

Published 8.3.2016 13.14

The application period for day care and open early education clubs has started in Tampere. The application period ends on 20 March 2016.

The primary means for applying for a place is the electronic application form on the City of Tampere’s website. If necessary, the application form can be printed on the city’s website or picked up from a day care centre or from the office of Day care customer guidance.

Day care services start their operations on 1 August 2016 and clubs on 11 August 2016.

More information on day-care, different day care alternatives and the application procedure is on the City of Tampere’s website. The website also provides information on day care centres that provide child care services in the evenings and for shift workers, on language groups as well as on open early childhood education clubs intended for children under school age and their families.

The office of the Day care customer guidance in Tampere will answer questions regarding applications, tel. +358 (0)40 800 7260 (Mon–Fri at 9 am – 12 noon), address Voimakatu 11, e-mail [email protected]

The website on day care also has a chat window where customers can ask questions about day care services and the application. Please note that the chat service is not available in real-time at all hours. If the chat service is not available when the customer uses it, the service provides the customer with a feedback form for sending in the question. We will contact the customer later by e-mail or telephone.

Applications for a place in day care can also be sent year-round outside the application period. A place must be applied for at least four months before the need for day care begins.

Families living in the Tampere region can also apply for a place in day care for their children in other municipalities in the region (Kangasala, Lempäälä, Nokia, Orivesi, Pirkkala, Vesilahti and Ylöjärvi). The application is made for both the applicant’s own municipality of residence and the applicant’s region. When making the selection, priority is given to the residents of the municipality in question. A place can be granted for children in the region only if there are open places left. The regional agreement between municipalities is valid until the start of preschool education. If the child is granted a place in another municipality in the region, the day care shall be covered by an outsourcing agreement.
