Finnish language courses

Finnish-language education for immigrants is provided either as integration training or independent studies. It is also possible to study Finnish independently. You can apply for a course and pay the course fee yourself. Independent Finnish-language courses are organised by the following educational institutions.

Call the emergency number 112

Finnish citizens and non-Finnish residents can obtain help by dialling the 112 emergency number for all emergencies requiring urgent assistance, whether from police, rescue, ambulance or social services.

1. If you can, make the call yourself
2. State what has happened
3. State precisely the address and municipality
4. Answer any questions asked
5. Follow the instructions given
6. Do not hang up until told to do so

If a patient urgently needs to consult a doctor, he or she books the appointment from the Telephone Health Service, tel. 10023 or tel. 03 10 0023 when calling from a mobile phone, daily 7 – 22.

The First Aid Unit Acuta treats Tampere residents having acutely fallen ill and residents with minor injuries.

The Poison Information Centre answers questions concerning the
prevention and treatment of acute poisonings every day, around the
clock. The Centre serves the whole of Finland by telephone and provides
guidance to the public and to health care professionals.
