The application period for next autumn’s morning and afternoon activities for schoolchildren begins in Tampere. Upcoming first and second-grade pupils can apply for a place in a morning and afternoon activities group from 26 March to 22 April 2012.
Morning and afternoon activities give first and second-formers and pupils with special needs a chance to spend the time before and after school days in a safe environment with adults, either at or close to the school.
Applications for activities organised by the City or any other service provider can be sent during the same period.
Groups for next autumn are formed on the basis of the applications sent now. Families will be informed of places by 31 May 2012.
The afternoon activities are held after lessons from noon to 5 p.m. Families can also choose a shortened period, which means that the child
participates in the activities either for a maximum of three hours per day or on three days a week after school. Some groups also offer
morning activities from 8 to 10 a.m. depending on demand.
The daily programme includes, among other things, supervised outdoor activities, games and play, arts and crafts, doing homework, rest,
exercise and a snack.
The groups are run by professionals with a background in tutoring children in groups and supporting their growth.
The primary application method is an online application form available on the City of Tampere website. Paper forms are also available for those who need them at preschool education groups and schools.
More information on the activities can be found on the City’s website and the application brochure of the morning and afternoon activities handed out by the preschool education groups and schools.
