The hustle and bustle of the city slows down to a calmer pace come summertime, which also brings about some changes in the opening hours of the city’s offices and services during summer months. Needless to say, the city also offers a variety of summertime events and activities for everyone to enjoy.
The museums of Tampere offer a wide range of exhibitions for the whole family and the green oasis of Viikinsaari is a wonderful destination for a picnic. Enjoy the taste of summer and head to one of Tampere’s lively market places for fresh strawberries, peas and other treats.
Summer is the season of events so some tips and suggestions for activities are included in the list below. Furthermore, please remember to enjoy your summer safely and pay attention to the safety information below.

On June 24–25 all offices are closed.

On June 24 Laukontori and Tammelantori are open 6–13, Hervanta Market Place 8–13. On June 25 all market places are closed.
Between 27 June and 7 August, the health centre services provided by the City of Tampere will be centralised to four health centres: Hatanpää Health Centre, Tammelakeskus Health Centre, Hervanta Health Centre, and Tesoma Health Centre. The health centres that are open in the summer only treat patients in need of urgent care. The dedicated doctor system is not in use and patients are referred to the health centre offering the earliest available appointment.
Outsourced health centre services operate normally during the summer.
Nurses receive patients without appointment from 27 June to 7 August.
Telephone health service gives guidance and instructions in case of acute illnesses every day 7–22 also in summertime. Tel. 100 23 (when calling from a landline number) or 03 100 23 (from mobile phone).
