A celebration of masculinity is the name of the game in the Puisto-Emmaus hall in Hämeenpuisto on Saturday, 28 April 2012, 12:00-15:00, at the first-ever "Tampere for men" event. The focus of the event is finding action-oriented answers to the following question: what would move a man?
During the afternoon, men
will have the opportunity to try out various activities such as a climbing
wall, various sports and grilling sausages on an open fire. The event will
feature tens of Tampere-based clubs and organisations and the activities they
offer for men. Among other things, participants will find out about the best
fishing spots in the Tampere region and receive information on father-child
activities arranged by various organisations. The event stage will feature
performances by a male choir, stand-up comedy for men and a humorous
perspective on masculinity by Snorkkeli improvisational theatre. Chinese,
Persian, Somali and Russian language interpreters will be on hand for immigrant
participants.
The event is a continuation of the Female Tampere event organised in March,
which drew an audience of 350 women to Tampere City Library Metso. Tampere for
Men is organised by City of Tampere Cultural Services in partnership with
Miesten Mattila, YMCA, Pioni ry, the Tampere branch of the National Family
Association Promoting Mental Health in Finland and the Finnish Refugee Council.
The event programme is available on the Tampere for Men website.
