Tampere has 86 municipal day care centres. They provide whole-day and part-time day care as well as shift and evening care. A child’s care days and hours are arranged together with the parents.
A child’s day care place is not bound by the family’s living area, but can be applied for in a desired day care centre.

In addition to municipal day care centres, the City of Tampere organizes day care as purchased activities. Day care centres with purchased activities are private day care centres, from which the city buys services.
