Preschool education enrolment for children entering preschool next autumn is beginning in Tampere. All children born in 2005 who have been enrolled may participate in preschool education.
Preschool education is voluntary and free of charge. During the next school year, preschool education will be provided in 49 day care centres and 29 schools.
Enrolment must be completed by 11 Feb 2011, and it will be carried out by filling in an application form handed out in the child’s own day care centre, and by returning the completed form back to the day care centre. Children who do not attend day care may be enrolled electronically on the city’s web pages or by filling in a paper form, available in all day care centres. Enrolment in preschool education at private day care centres will be carried out by applying directly to the chosen day care centre.
Preschool education will be provided from 15 Aug through 31 May 2010 during the schools’ time of operation. Daily preschool education lasts four hours per day. If a child needs day care in addition to preschool education, it should be noted in the application form.
