The Runeberg Cottage was named after its most famous occupant, Finland’s national poet, Johan Ludvig Runeberg. He spent the summer of 1834 in the cottage presumably composing at least the poem “Pilven veikko” to his famous work, Vänrikki Stoolin tarinat.
During the summer season the cottage is occupied by an arts and crafts exhibition and shop. In addition, there is a visiting artist every month from the Pirkanmaa region participating in the exhibition.
