Dive into the history of computers, the Internet and computer games at the Rupriikki Museum. These familiar names will bring back memories: Commodore 64, Atari, Macintosh… In the 1950's, it was generally believed that a few computers would be quite sufficient to fulfill the needs of science and business life across the entire world. The first computer ever built in Finland was called 'ESKO' (an abbreviation which stands for 'electronic series computator'). It was built in 1958 at Helsinki University of Technology. These computers were tools for mathematicians and they paved the way for the home computers of the 1980's. Young people today fondly remember their childhood experiences of these computers and games. |
