Television set

In addition to sound and image technology, television programme production requires know-how about lighting and sets. The couch potato at home sees a flawless and interference-free picture – the result of a succesful production chain. Technology has moved from analogue to digital, but the "sight radio" still has the old magic.

1957 was the year when a historic moment in television production took place, as the 'Televisiokerho' (The television club) brought transmissions to Tampere. The miracle of living and moving pictures was keenly followed on television sets in shop windows. All broadcasts were live, since no recording equipment was available back then.

In 1964, the YLE channel acquired Tesvisio's and Tamvisio's channel and the decision was taken to continue both channels. Viewers could now choose between two channels! The Tohloppi studios were built and taken into use at the beginning of the 1970's, which gave Tampere a television production centre with suitable resources for programme production. At the same time, the first colour cameras and image recording equipment became available.
