PIKI net library is open every day from 04.00 am till 12.00 pm.
FUNCTIONS AT PIKI NET LIBRARY
Information search from the libraries' material database:
Material can be found with one search criteria using Browse, or
with more diverse options using Search. Here you can choose the
local library which you want to use.
You can choose to search fiction
or non fiction or adult departmentīs material. Or you can search
separately music or children's departments' material.
With Quick search you can search material by the author, title, subject or any combinations of these.
There is a database called Pirkitta for the regional material.
You can arrange or print out the search results.
You can check the
availability of the item (on shelf, which library, on loan,
reservations, etc.)
Reservations are made at the availability data display. It is possible to make reservations for items on shelf, too.
PERSONAL DETAILS OPTIONS
In Personal Details you can specify and maintain the Method of Notifying in which the program sends a collection note of a reservation. You can choose e-mail, or GSM-text message or post or my PIKI`s message box (if you have my PIKI-program). The collection fee will be charged irrespective of the way in which the note was sent.
Reminder of the due date - if required, the program sends a reminder to the customerīs e-mail or my PIKIīs message box when a due date is approaching. You can determine how many days in advance this will be made. This service is free.
You can change your password and inform the library about changes in your address etc. You can also see the contents of your payments to the library.
LOANS AND RESERVATIONS
Customer data option helps you keep track of your personal loans, extend loans (unless an item has been reserved by another customer) and cancel reservations.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The use of PIKI net library is free of charge. Also the password and
the first library card are free.
The fees for reservations vary in the
PIKI-libraries, but they are not dependent on the method of notifying.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO USE PIKI NET LIBRARY?
* Internet connection
* A library card and a password
(you get both only on a personal visit to the library) to be able to
use Customer data. To get a library card you need to verify your identity.
If you are under 15 you need a guarantee from your guardian.
WHAT IS my PIKI?
my PIKI is an additional program to PIKI net library.
To use
my PIKI program you need a library card and a password (the same as for
PIKI Net Library). In addition, you need a RIGHT to use my PIKI,
which you can get from any PIKI-library.
In my PIKI program there is the userīs own message box. You can have your collection note of reservations and due date reminders here.
The program informs the customer of new items purchased by the
library according to search criteria specified by the customer, either
to the customerīs e-mail and/or my PIKIīs message box.
The customer can
transfer and store information of the items onto his or her Own
Shelves.
TO BEGIN WITH my PIKI
As soon as you have got the right to use my PIKI, you have an access to its functions through PIKIīs Customer data option, which now will display new keys.
- You should begin by filling up your own set ups through Method of
Notifying. You can change your set ups later, if you wish.

Through Search Terms you can specify your criteria for the
monitoring of new items according to your needs and interests.
