Vuores
Vuores is a new urban quarter, which is to be developed on the border between the City of Tampere and Lempäälä municipality. The goal is to build a structurally and functionally harmonious urban district in the territory of these two municipalities.

Vuores is one of the biggest and most exciting urban development projects in Finland to be undertaken in the new millennium. Characterised by its varied geography and natural environment, Vuores offers challenging opportunities for land use planning and construction. Central elements include creativity and art in its various forms.
Tampere and its surroundings constitute the second largest urban region and growth area in Finland. The total population of the area is 300,000. The population of Tampere itself is expected to grow by 30,000 by 2020, and that of the surrounding area by 50,000. The planning of Vuores forms part of the preparation for this growth, and the total population of Vuores is expected to be about 13,400, with 10,200 of these residents in Tampere and 3,200 in Lempäälä. The number of jobs is going to be 3,000 5,000.
Lively and unique small town
New Vuores district offes an interesting promise of nature, creativity and high technology. The area for development is 1,256 hectares. The main goal is to create a small town that is active throughout the day and provides high-quality services and a variety of residential options as well as attractive work premises to serve the needs of commerce and trade. The natural environment and ecology are an essential part of the areas identity. Environmentally valuable areas shall be protected. The traffic system plan emphasises public transport, walking, and cycling.
