Participation issues were promoted in the Welcome to Tampere 2011 fair

On the 28th September the Local Democracy Unit of the City of Tampere participated in the Welcome to Tampere 2011 fair. The free-of-charge fair for new international students and new residents of Tampere offered information on the city of Tampere, its services and various free time activities.

The event was carried out as a fair with information sessions. Visitors had the opportunity to visit the areas and info sessions of their interest.

In the fair the Local Democracy Unit promoted residents’ participation opportunities. Residents of Tampere have the opportunity to participate in regional working groups called Alvari and in the Internet services Valma and Mansetori. Local Democracy Unit also takes part in the eCitizen2 EU project. Information and achievements of the project were also promoted in the fair. The unit with it’s presentations got a lot of attention from the audience.
