As new timetables come into effect on 13 August 2012, many familiar bus
lines will start running on new routes. Passenger numbers have gone up
and therefore service on core routes between the Tampere city centre and
the suburbs will also be increased.
The changes will serve to help the buses to stay on schedule and enable the development of regional cooperation. Western Tampere has long hoped for a cross route, and now it will be realised between Tesoma and Lielahti. In Southern Tampere, the adaptation of the new Vuores public transport services to the existing services has affected the changes.
The changes will improve public transportation services for most Tampere-dwellers. However, some impairments will also occur as services that are not used much are closed down and bus lines whose passenger number have decreased will run at longer intervals.
Timetables are distributed to every home in Tampere and the surrounding municipalities between 6 and 10 August 2012. More information on the changes can be found in the information newspaper “Sinisten bussien matkassa” (Travelling on the blue buses) that will be distributed to every household in Tampere.
