When you become ill, call the Tampere Telephone health service, tel.
10023 or 03 10023 when calling from a cell phone. The nurse at the
health service will give instructions for treating the illness, guide
you to the right place for treatment and make appointments with a doctor
if necessary.
When calling, please have a pen, paper, your Kela card and a calendar at hand. This way everything will go quicker. Often just a call is enough and you don't need to go elsewhere for help. If you need to see a nurse or doctor, you should visit your own health center.
During the daytime, health centers also provide treatment for urgent cases such as earache, back pain and sprains. If you require urgent medical treatment, you can make an appointment by calling the Health service which is open every day from 7 am onwards. If your illness doesn't require urgent treatment, you can make an appointment for up to 3 or 4 weeks away.
The first aid unit Acuta, located at the Tampere University Hospital,
provides treatment for patients requiring urgent care. During the
daytime on weekdays, Acuta also treats patients whose illness or
condition requires specialized health care.
If you need immediate, urgent help, call the general emergency number
112. If you, your friend or family member have sudden numbness in the
face, speak unclearly and feel weakness in the arm, it may be a sign
that the blood flow to the brain has been interrupted, which requires
immediate dissolving. The ambulance staff know where to take the
patient.
