The Jukola relay is one of the greatest competitions of relay orienteering in the world each year attracting more than 12 000 participants. The Jukola relay will be held in Tampere in June 2008.

The National Championships of Athletics 2008
The Finnish Championships in Athletics, which are also known as Kalevan kisat in Finnish, will be held in Tampere in 2008.
European Women's Football Championship 2009
Some of the matches will be played in Tampere. Helsinki, Turku, Lahti and Vantaa are also hosting matches.
European Youth Olympic Festival, 18 - 25 July 2009
In this sports event there are some 3,000 sportsmen and sportswomen competing in nine different sports. The event will be organised at several locations, including the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre (Pirkkahalli) and Tampere Stadium. The Athletes' Village will be located in Hervanta.
