Tampere residents over 65 years of age are entitled to a 50 % reduction on fares between 9:00 and 14:00 hrs. The card reader on the bus gives the reduction automatically. If the card has been purchased before this age limit, the cardholder should go to the Public Transport Service Point after his or her 65th birthday so that the card can be reprogrammed to the correct age category. A Stored Value Ticket loaded into the card can only be used by the card owner during the above reduced-fare period.
Students are entitled to a 25 % reduction on normal adult fares. Student Tickets are sold to full-time students (at least 25 hours of study per week) whose studies lead to a vocational or academic qualification. The academic year must be at least 9 months long. As a rule, Student Tickets are sold from the start of the autumn term to the end of the following September. For students finishing their studies in autumn, the sales period continues until the end of December. Students under 25 years of age can purchase a young person's Travel Card.
Registered war veterans who are residents of Tampere are entitled to a Stored Value Ticket free of charge but they, too, are required to pay the extra fee on late-night buses. In order to pay for other passengers or extra fee on late-night buses, there must be minimum of 20 EUR loaded onto the Travel Card.
Children under 12 years of age are entitled to a 50 % reduction on fares.
Childen under 7 years of age travel free of charge when accompanied by a paying passenger.
