School health care is statutory and free of charge. A school nurse and a school doctor carry out individual health check-ups for pupils at regular intervals.
Student health care provides services for students at polytechnics, vocational upper secondary colleges and institutes and general upper secondary education.
The psychologists working within student health care give guidance, advice and short-term therapy the goal of which is to restore and maintain the student’s ability to study and/or work. The students coming to consult a psychologist have usually been referred to the psychologist by a public health nurse or a doctor. Students themselves may also book an appointment to see a psychologist.
