The City of Tampere provides dental health services for all residents.
Children under school age Dental checks are provided for all children at the age of 1, 2, 4, and 6 years. Also, checks based on individual need are made. Children of these ages receive a letter by post, requesting their parents to make an appointment for them. A parent or guardian may make the appointment via the e-services or by calling the centralised appointment service.
Schoolchildren Dental checks are provided for children in the
first, third, fifth, seventh, and ninth year of school. In addition,
checks based on individual need are made. All such children under 12
years old of age receive a letter requesting an appointment to be made for
them. The parent or guardian may make the appointment by means of the
e-services or by calling the centralised appointments service. Children
older than 12 years receive an invitation to an appointment made for
them.
Dental care for students A letter requesting to make an appointment is sent to 17-year-olds. An appointment can be
made through e-services by using individual Internet bank identifiers,
or by calling the centralised appointments service. It is also
possible to use e-services to check, reschedule, or cancel an
appointment; to make an initial appointment with a dental hygienist for
assessing the need for treatment; and to make an urgent-care appointment
with a dentist. Students in Tampere who are residents of other
municipalities may use the dental health services provided by the City
of Tampere.
Adults Adults book an appointment through
the centralised appointment service. It is also possible to use
e-services to check, reschedule, or cancel an appointment; to make an
initial appointment with a dental hygienist for assessing the need for
treatment; and to make an appointment with a dentist for urgent care.
