It is possible for anyone to seek help and guidance in Social stand-by service, for example in a situation of marital violence. The social workers make home visits if necessary.

Various authorities also guide clients to Social stand-by service. For instance, the police send to there all underage juveniles arrested for drug abuse offences, minor theft, vandalism or alcohol intoxication.

In Social stand-by service all first-aid measures required are administered and the child or adolescent’s parents are informed. Concerning eventual follow-up measures, Social stand-by service also contacts social workers and other district authorities.

Social stand-by service employees are also in charge of the following services:

  • Supervision of the child's best interests in preliminary investigation and in court
  • Personal inquiries on adolescents under 18 years of age for the courts
  • Activities of children’s and adolescent's support personnel
  • Drug abuser's support personnel
