Daytime activities support the health, mobility and daily living of the aged and long term ill, encouraging them to live at home for as long as possible. Simultaneously, daytime activities give the person taking care of his/her parent at home an opportunity to have some time off.
Service Centres, Day Centres and City Block Clubs provide daytime activities.
In the Service Centres, aged persons have access to certain facilities including meals, hygiene, physiotherapy, foot care, barbering and hairdressing. They can also take part in various free time and recreational activities in addition to meeting other aged persons. Services are intended for all aged persons living in Tampere.
Day Centres serve aged people in poor health and whose mobility and/or life at home require various services of the Home Care Department. Day Centre services are based on a service and care plan, and theyare generally available for one day per week. A day spent at the Day Centre may include, for example, a sauna bath, meals and activity hours.
People can attend the Day Centres by filling in an application at the Home Care Department of their own district, or by contacting the relevant Day Centre directly.
Day Centre fee is 10 euros/day. It covers breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee and a sauna bath. The fee is 5 euros/day when covering only lunch and a sauna bath. If necessary, the Day Centre organizes transport at a fee of 5 euros.
