The main source of noise in Tampere is road and street traffic. Noise from air traffic has also increased.
In new residential areas, noise reduction can be arranged by better placing of buildings and yards as well as by structural building solutions. Activities carried out to reduce traffic noise include constructing noise barriers and making noise reports.
Any events causing disturbing noise or vibration on a temporary basis, e.g. open-air concerts, motor racing events, public events or construction, must be reported in advance to the municipal environmental authority.
