We maintain the constructed parks and green areas adjacent to traffic. On request, we also maintain green areas of other departments of the City of Tampere. The city is divided into six maintenance districts.
Green areas are attended to according to the goals set in the management categories. Maintenance includes taking care of vegetation, surface coatings, structures, devices and equipment as well as keeping the green areas clean. The categorising of parks is based on the guide Taajaman viheralueiden hoitoluokitus published by the Association of Municipal Supervisors of Parks and Grounds. The guide deals with the maintenance categories of parks in urban areas.
We at the parks department maintain playgrounds and sports grounds as well as fenced parks for dogs. In winter we look after outdoor ice-skating rinks and children's slides made of snow. Moreover, we maintain 122 kilometres of pedestrian and bicycle paths and other routes. At the moment we attend on request about 35 hectares of green areas located amongst properties.
