The City of Tampere Cultural Office is responsible for running Haihara mansion. Haihara mansion´s history is extensive. In the year 1554 it was mentioned in land ownership records. The best known owners of the mansion were captain Anselm Grahn, who built Haihara´s present main building in the 1870´s and his daughters "Haihara's young ladies" Alina, Jenny and Naima. The daughter of Anselm Grahn´s son, Gunvor Ekroos established Haihara doll and costume museum in 1966. The museum was functioning in the area until 1992.
In the mansion area there are several historically remarkable buildings. The workers´cottage, stable and granaries represent the oldest building base. The park within the mansion´s area with a rich, fertile grove form a valuable vegetation area. Many species of plant life may date back to the 1870´s - when the park was established. The old mansion´s plants are columbine and lily as well as white dead-nettle and knapweed.
Haihara´s area is an historically rich and interesting place where one can acquaint oneself with the art exhibitions and visit the refreshingly homely workers´cottage. One mustn´t forget about the art courses, park concerts, doll theatre and handicrafts market that are arranged on the grounds.
