Friends' societies

The operations of the museum are supported by the Tampere Art Society and Friends of the Art Museum, which was established in 1978 to raise funds for purchasing Finnish art dating from the turn of the 19th century for the museum's collections. Friends of the Moomins was founded on the 18th of February 1991 with the aim of developing Moominvalley as an artistically interesting tourist attraction.
