Pormestari Timo P. Nieminen

The Mayor, Mr. Timo P. Nieminen, has his Vocational Qualification in Business and Administration. He was previously by profession a financial director in Tampere Vuokratalosäätiö (Tampere Tenement Foundation). Of his numerous positions of trust the most important ones have been the membership of the Tampere City Council since 1973 and the membership of Tampere City Board since 1983. Mr. Nieminen has also acted as the Chairman of the City Board since 1995. In addition Mr. Nieminen is a Chairman of the Tampere Region Federation of Municipalities and a member of Finnish Association for Local and Regional Authorities. He also acts in the administrative bodies of Suomi Mutual Group, Y-Foundation and Cooperative Retail Society Pirkanmaa enterprises.


Mr. Timo P. Nieminen began as the first Mayor of Tampere in 1.1.2007. His mandate lasts until the end of 2012.
