City board

The City Board directs the municipal administration, prepares issues to be addressed by the City Council, administers the implementation of the Council's decisions, looks after municipal interests, and officially represents the municipality. Unless otherwise specified, the City Board enters into contracts and performs other official transactions on behalf of the municipality. Its other duties include the general development of the city, leading and overseeing city planning, supervising municipal offices and officials, and leading and monitoring the financial administration of the city.

The City Board is expected to deliver the Annual Accounts and Annual Report by June every year for the City Council to review. For the following year, the City Board is expected to draft a budget that the City Council adopts by the end of the current year.

The City Board has a chairman and 10 other members who each have a personal deputy. The Mayor is the chairman of the Board. The City Council elects first and second deputy chairmen from among the Board for the term of office of the Board.

Matters within the City Board’s jurisdiction can be addressed by the City Board at its general meetings, a Board section or the Mayor, as specified in the regulations concerning the City Board.

The City Board has two sections: Planning Section and Personnel Affairs Section.

The Planning Section has a chairman and six other members who each have a personal deputy. The Mayor is the chairman. The City Board elects members and deputies from among the ordinary or deputy members of the City Board and deputy chairmen from among the ordinary members of the City Board.

The Personnel Affairs Section has seven members and deputies whom the City Board elects from among the ordinary or deputy members of the City Board. The City Board elects a chairman and deputy chairmen from among the ordinary members of the City Board.

The purpose of the Planning Section is to address issues related to the strategic management and planning of the consolidated municipal corporation.

The purpose of the Personnel Affairs Section is to address issues related to the strategic personnel management of the consolidated municipal corporation.

The minutes of the City Board and section meetings are made available for review at the Registry of the consolidated municipal corporation on the Tuesday following the meeting.
