Finland took silver in boys 100 metres breast stroke

15 years old Matti Mattsson took silver in boys 100 metres breast stroke on day 4 at the European Youth Olympic Festival Tampere (EYOF).

Mattssons aim was to beat his own record and to get a medal. We managed to reach him over the phone right after the award ceremony. Mattsson has been practicing for this game during the whole year of 2009. He started swimming round the age of 7-8 and found 100 breast stroke one and a half years go.

Matti is born in Pori and he swims for Pori swimming association. He thanked his team for support and is looking forward to two weeks holiday. At his free time Matti goes on walks with his dog and to the gym. After holidays the school starts along with normal training routine. Matti might be taking part into smaller competitions.

Silver for Finland in girls 100 metres breast stroke

On final day of the Olympic Festival Finland took silver in girls 100 metres breast stroke. Swimming Club Vuokatti's Jenna Laukkanen became second with her time 1:10.80. Her aim was to beat her own record. She prepared mentally for the finals by resting, eating and going throught the sport in her mind. As worst rival Jenna named Italy's Carlotta Toni, who indeed took the golden medal with her time 1:10.25. Bronze went to Germany's Julia Willers. Her time was 1:11.56.

In the evening Jenna will head to the final disco to relax and celebrate her medals with friends.
