Organising of the Handball by the Finnish Handball Association:
The Danish sport arrived to Finland 65 years ago. Only 3500 Finns take interest into this sport even if it’s known in more than 165 countries worldwide. The Finnish supporters mainly come from the Swedish speaking coast line and the sport is not known above Riihimäki. The head coach for the Finnish national team thinks that the Swedish speaking coast stamp on this sport is the main reason for the lack of supporters in Finland.
As a sport handball is very physical. The players attack each other but in case fallen down they stand up immediately and shake hands in gentleman style. In this way the game can carry on without acting and drama.Kekki thinks the most experienced player of the whole tournament in 16 years old Finn Miro Koljonen, who has been taking part into 35 international games. Miro has played for 11 years and he thinks the most important thing is the attitude and hunger to win. As role models Miro names players from the German national team and Mikael Källman. Miro thinks the small size and therefore quicker playing are the strengths of his team aiming for preliminaries of the European Championship next year.
On the day two at the European Youth Olympic Festival Tampere (EYOF) Tuesday the 21st July 2009 Finland lost against Norway.
