Education [City of Tampere]

The City of Tampere organises basic education and also upper secondary education at Tampere Region Vocational College Tredu and seven general upper secondary schools.

Compulsory education continues until the age of 18. Everyone must continue their studies after completing compulsory schooling.

Basic education

Tampere provides basic education in Finnish and foreign languages, preparatory instruction for basic education for immigrants, as well as flexible and subject-emphasis education.
Vocational education

Secondary vocational education at Tredu and other vocational colleges in Pirkanmaa. At the end of your studies, you will graduate into a profession.
General upper secondary education

General secondary education in seven upper secondary schools in Tampere. At the end of your studies, you will complete the national matriculation examination.
Higher education

You can study for a higher education degree at a Tampere University, Tampere University of Applied Sciences or Police University College.
The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region

Wide range of courses including crafts, art and languages. Also free public lectures and events. (In the Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region section.)
