Travel information

Tampere is easily accesible. It is located in Southern Finland, 175 km north of Helsinki. There are excellent flight connections to Finland and Tampere from all parts of the world. Tampere has an international airport, served by Blue1/SAS (Star Alliance), Finnair (One World Alliance) and Ryanair.

Finland is also easily reached by sea from Sweden, Germany, Poland and Russia. There are good bus connections to Tampere directly from the ferry terminals. Or why not travel by car from eastern Europe through Via Baltica?

By Air

Helsinki- Vantaa international airport covers over 130 international flights every day and is also known for its high service quality. It facilitates around 30 carriers including Finnair, SAS, Blue 1, British Airways, KLM and Lufthansa. Traveling by an express bus is an easy way to get from the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport or the Helsinki city centre to Tampere.

By train

There are frequent train connections between Helsinki and Tampere city centres. From Helsinki-Vantaa airport you can easily take a bus to Helsinki or Tikkurila railway station and take a train from there. Trains depart every hour (except for night time), and the travelling time is 1,5-2 hours (ticket approx. 26 euros). It is also possible to arrive in Finland by train from St. Petersburg and Moscow.

By Sea

Finland has adopted Eastern European Time, EET, which is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. Eastern European Summer Time, EEST, is three hours ahead of GMT.

Electric supply in Finland is 220 volts (50 Hz) and wall outlets are the Northern European standard (CEE 7/4) with two round contacts. The standard two-pin European plug (CEE 7/16) can be connected to these outlets.

Temperatures during day time in late May are normally between 14 and 18 ºC but night time can get as low as 5 to 7 ºC so warm clothes are recommended for the evenings.
