53. PIERRE BURAGLIO,
14 October 1990 - 20 January 1991
The Sara Hildén Art Museum presented the works
of the French artist Pierre Buraglio (b. 1939 Charenton, France) from
1960-1990. The exhibition consisted of 111 works.
Pierre Buraglio is a painter, although he does not actually
paint in the traditional sense. He uses recycled materials and old objects
in his works. Buraglio's art utilizes window frames and glass, Gauloises
cigarette boxes, masking tape, transparent drawing paper, fabrics,
postcards,
etc. Buraglio builds his works on the contrasting features of the transparent
and the covered.
Buraglio's exhibition was a refreshing and different experience
for the visitor. The idea to recycle everything and not to throw anything
away is practical and enjoyable. Buraglio proves this visually: he changes
our everyday surroundings into an aesthetical experience in a sophisticated
way. Even the viewer begins to see the world through "Buraglio's
eyes".
The museum staff had composed a 30-minute video presentation
about the artist, the exhibition and its preparation.
Works from the collection of the Sara Hildén Foundation
were presented on Levels B and C on the lower floor of the museum.
