37. CLAUDE VIALLAT,
22 February - 26 April 1987
The spring exhibition of 1987 presented the works of the
French artist Claude Viallat (b. 1936 Nîmes). The exhibition was
retrospective in nature, and it included Viallat's paintings and sculptures
from 1966-86. Over 150 works were displayed on both floors of the museum.
The exhibition was made possible by the agreement on cultural
exchange between Finland and France. The French organizers were the French
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Association Francaise d'Action
Artistique.
Claude Viallat and his wife were present at the opening
ceremony of the exhibition. Professor Yves Michaud, the French Chief Curator
of the exhibition, helped to mount the works.
