01. INAUGURAL EXHIBITION
11 February 1979 - 13 January 1980
At the beginning of 1979 the collection of works belonging
to the Sara Hildén Foundation was transferred to the Sara Hildén
Art Museum from the Art Museum of the Ateneum, the Turku Art Museum, the
Wäinö Aaltonen Museum, the Tampere City Museum at Hatanpää
Manor and from state-owned storage depots.
The works were on show at the inaugural exhibition of
the Sara Hildén Art Museum, which filled all the exhibition space
in the museum. A total of 236 Finnish and international paintings, sculptures,
drawings and prints were on display. Some of the large sculptures were
permanently placed on the lawn surrounding the museum.
